Inauguration of the Calligraphy Branch in Lakshibazar, Old Dhaka

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 4:00 PM, a new branch of Safa Calligraphy Institute of Bangladesh was inaugurated at 12 Shyamaprasad Lane, Mandir Goli, Lakshibazar, Old Dhaka. This branch aims to promote healthy cultural practices and the beauty of Quranic calligraphy.

Chief Guest:
The event was graced by the presence of the honorable President of the Bangladesh Fine Arts Council, renowned calligrapher, and cartoonist, Ibrahim Mondol.

Special Guests:

• Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Usmangani, an esteemed Islamic scholar and professor at Dhaka Ahsania Institute and Teachers’ Training College.
• Mufti Mawlana Sheikh Afzal Hossain, a distinguished Islamic scholar and Director of Career Bangladesh.
• Abu Sufian, a senior journalist and pioneer in Bangladeshi journalism.
• Respected teachers from the women’s branch of Ta’mirul Millat, one of the country’s leading Islamic educational institutions.
• Notable businessmen from Bangla Bazar, including Muhammad Jane Alam, the esteemed publisher of Planet Publications, and other prominent publishers and traders.

The program commenced with a recitation from the Quran by calligrapher Zahirul Islam, an assistant teacher at Safa Calligraphy Institute.

In his keynote address, cartoonist Ibrahim Mondol discussed the rich history of calligraphy, highlighting that Islamic calligraphy is the foundation of all modern art forms. He emphasized that the development of education, culture, and art is essential for fostering a healthy and thoughtful society.

The event concluded with the opening announcement by the honorable Founder and Director of Safa Calligraphy Institute, distinguished calligrapher Saifullah Safa, under whose leadership the program was successfully completed.

📜 অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে: কুরআনে কারিম থেকে তিলাওয়াত করেন ক্যালিগ্রাফি শিল্পী জহিরুল ইসলাম, সহকারী শিক্ষক, সাফা ক্যালিগ্রাফি ইনস্টিটিউট অব বাংলাদেশ।

🎙️ প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্য: কার্টুনিস্ট ইব্রাহিম মন্ডল ক্যালিগ্রাফির বিষদ ইতিহাস পর্যালোচনার এক পর্যায়ে বলেন, “পৃথিবীর বুকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত সকল আধুনিক শিল্পের মূল উৎপত্তিস্থলই হলো ইসলামিক ক্যালিগ্রাফি।” তিনি আরও বলেন, “শিক্ষা, সংস্কৃতি ও শিল্পের বিকাশ ছাড়া সুস্থ মননশীলতার বিকাশ সম্ভব নয়।”
